On the grounds of the LWL-Industriemuseum Henrichshütte stands the oldest blast furnace in the area

The LWL-Museum Henrichshütte in Hattingen is an indispensable part of the Route of Industrial Heritage. Here, an impressive world opens up around the oldest blast furnace in the Ruhr region. The Henrichshütte was once one of the largest iron and steelworks in the region and today offers a wide range of experiences.

An exploratory tour into the picturesque Ruhr Valley reveals the history of the Ruhr region in an impressive way. The museum is an excellent destination for a cycle tour along the Ruhr Valley cycle path. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of knowledge of historical iron production and discover exciting temporary exhibitions.

The "Path of Iron" takes visitors high up: from Blast Furnace 3 (HO 3), the oldest of its kind, a breathtaking view of the Ruhr Valley opens up from a height of 55 metres. Whether on foot or in the comfort of the glass lift, the trail brings the industrial past to life. The plant once employed around 10,000 people; the last blast furnace was shut down in 1987. Today, it is the centrepiece of the museum.

In the show foundry, the past becomes close enough to touch when demonstrations bring the historical flair back to life and former employees tell their stories as contemporary witnesses. These insights provide an authentic experience of everyday working life in the past.

A multi-faceted, all-weather adventure that offers both knowledge and excitement awaits visitors to the LWL Museum Henrichshütte in the Ruhr region.
