The KoFabrik is a project founded in 2018 to benefit the common good in the northwest of Bochum's city centre, specifically in the Imbuschplatz neighbourhood.
KoFabrik Bochum - a lively hub of creative energy, embedded in the heart of the Ruhr region. Once a traditional ironworks, today it has been given a new lease of life as a modern cultural centre and space for entertainment. The transformed architecture shines with an additional two floors, which were added in 2021, on a total area of 2000 square metres and houses several innovative areas. The Pionierhaus forms the impressive centrepiece, with four special use spaces, including the "mitwerk" - a vibrant co-working space - and the KoBüros, which promote creative, collaborative work. Here, the community unfolds in an inspiring neighbourhood hall and becomes a hub for creativity and discovery.
Imbuschplatz, a green oasis in the middle of the city that fulfils numerous functions as a seasonal living room for the neighbourhood, extends right outside the doors of the KoFabrik. Whether as a neighbourhood garden or a lively venue for art performances such as concerts - the square pulsates with life and social interaction. A special highlight: the "plots for sale" project, which offers individuals and groups the opportunity to plant their own plot and garden together. Here, urbanity is skilfully combined with community and nature, bringing the urban heartbeat of the Ruhr area vividly to the outside world.
