Guests feel transported back to the Golden Twenties when they enter the "Alte Drogerie" opposite the Cranger Tor. For 80 years, the specialist liquor store has been a real institution for fine fruit brandies, fine spirits, wine and sparkling wine from the Ruhr region and beyond.
Alte Drogerie Meinken - A place that combines tradition and modernity in a unique way and offers a fascinating range of spirits. Located in the heart of the Ruhr metropolis, the Alte Drogerie attracts visitors with a mixture of historical flair and innovative flavours. The core expertise lies in the production of spirits in the in-house grain distillery Eicker & Callen. This traditional business, founded back in 1749, is one of the oldest active distilleries in Westphalia.
Highlights of the range include the famous "Wanne-Eickeler Kirmestropfen" and the characterful liqueur "Der Mond von Wanne-Eickel", which comes in an equally distinctive bottle with a smiling moon face. The Alte Drogerie sets modern accents with its innovative gin variants, which are now not only known regionally, but also internationally.
The in-house gin truck with its moonlit bar offers a special experience, ensuring stylish appearances at events. In the original taproom from 1949, spirits tastings are regularly organised, which are enriched by lectures on the history of Wanne-Eickel.
