Creativ-Quartier Fürst Leopold

Where once coal was shoveled, today you will find culinary and art.

Since the cessation of mining activity at the former Fürst Leopold colliery in Dorsten in 2001 the 140,000-square-metre grounds have been home to the leisure, dining and culture centre known as CreativQuartier Fürst Leopold.

Where miners once obtained coal, today people dine out, chill, celebrate … and escape. Alongside the diverse range of restaurants and cafés, this listed building also now houses North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest escape room, Geheimdepot Dorsten (Dorsten Secret Warehouse). Meanwhile, venerable locations such as the wages hall and the pithead baths regularly play host to all manner of cultural events and cool concerts. You should also make a point of strolling around this extensive site. Those colliery buildings look pretty neat when illuminated at night.
